Meridian Courier began as a four-truck regional carrier in Greensboro, North Carolina, and has spent the last three and a half decades growing into a full-service domestic and international logistics provider — one shipment at a time.
Founded in 1989 by James and Carol Westbrook, Meridian Courier was originally chartered to serve overnight inter-city deliveries between Charlotte, Raleigh, and the Triad. By 1996 the network had expanded to include same-day metropolitan service across the Carolinas; by 2003, Meridian had completed its first national interline agreement, extending domestic coverage to the contiguous 48 states.
Our 2011 acquisition of Pacific Air Cargo's parcel division added next-business-day capacity from the west coast, and the 2018 launch of Meridian International — first to twelve European countries, then expanding outward — established the cross-border footprint we maintain today.
Through every stage of growth, our principle has remained the same: a parcel is a promise. The promise gets made when a sender hands it over, and our job is to keep it.
Our 2030 commitments target an absolute 38% reduction in Scope 1 emissions versus 2019 baseline, 100% recyclable or compostable packaging across owned operations, and net-zero contributions from our headquarters and three largest regional hubs. Our annual sustainability disclosure is published every January and is independently assured by Verifire Climate Audit.
